‘Terror-free Türkiye’ framework bill set for parliament
A framework bill setting out the legal basis for the government-backed “terror-free Türkiye” initiative is expected to be submitted to parliament on Aug. 5 following consultations with opposition parties.
Titled “Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration,” the proposal is intended to govern the next stage of the process after authorities formally confirm that PKK has fully disarmed and dissolved.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli became the first politician to sign the proposal on Aug. 4. Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş later added his signature.
Justice and Development Party (AKP) lawmakers were due to be briefed at a closed parliamentary group meeting before the proposal’s formal submission.
