Bottom Line Up Front

Today’s verdict: Chile’s Kast tax reform has cleared Congress — but presidential vetoes and a Constitutional Court challenge to its tax-stability guarantee mean it is not fully law yet — while Argentina’s Monotributo deadline falls today and Brazil’s Copom decides rates this evening, two days before Colombia’s Cali handover.

Chile’s reform. The Senate passed the last article 27–22 on August 4, sending the overhaul toward law; three presidential vetoes and a Constitutional Court ruling on the tax-stability guarantee are still pending before it is fully promulgated.

Argentina deadline. The Monotributo recategorisation closes today, Wednesday, August 5 — the last day to act in the ARCA portal.

Rates & Cali. Brazil’s Copom announces its Selic decision after the close today; Colombia’s inauguration in a locked-down Cali is Friday.
