MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Tuesday signaled that his investigation into alleged anomalies behind flood control and other infrastructure projects in Taguig City will include reclamation activities in Laguna Lake.

In his latest social media post stoking his feud with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, Lacson said he met with officials of the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) on Monday night and learned about “ghost slope protection projects (and) illegally reclaimed tracts of land covering” the freshwater lake.

The meeting with the PRA led Lacson to what he described as “a cauldron of worms,” an apparent dig at another controversy that had hounded Cayetano over the allegedly overpriced P50-million stadium cauldron built when the country hosted the Southeast Asian Games in 2019.

Ahead of any hearing and without providing additional findings, Lacson sought the forfeiture of reclaimed lakeshore areas in favor of the government.
