Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked longtime Democratic strategist James Carville on Monday to join Republicans to help “defeat” a common opponent: democratic socialists. The invitation came in response to Carville’s statement Sunday on Fox News that he would not want to be in the Democratic Party if Twitch streamer and activist Hasan Piker — who has backed several self-described democratic socialist candidates — is part of it.“He’s been loyal to his party for over 60 years but now he’s threatening a breakup,” Ingraham said. She then played a clip in which the Democratic strategist said: “I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker, I can tell you that right now. If he becomes a force in a Democratic Party, I’m out of here. I have no intention of ever being in the political party with that guy.”Fox News host Laura Ingraham (left) made a public appeal for Democratic strategist James Carville to join with Republicans to oppose democratic socialists.GettyThe host of “The Ingraham Angle” then targeted Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong, a self-described democratic socialist. Ingraham dismissively called Hong “a blithering idiot” with “a reported history of mental illness” and “a TikTokable campaign zing” that “all the kids are crazy about it.”Ingraham went on to blast Hong for bringing Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Piker onstage during a Sunday campaign rally.Rep. The Democrats are going to become a socialist party. It’s gonna happen unless the sensible Democrats do more than appear on podcasts, cable shows, and they start just standing for sanity.”After verbally smacking Carville with that back-handed compliment, she continued. “So, instead of fighting with the types of people who watch ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Carville and other Democrats who oppose socialism should join our effort to turn the GOP into a party that is rebuilding the American middle class,” she said, despite the massive inflation the country is experiencing as Republicans control the White House and both chambers of Congress. “Turn to us,” she continued. “The question is, how many more are there like them in the Democratic Party who will join to defeat this scourge?”Ingraham’s offer may be tempting to Carville, considering he’s also made other previous remarks about the rising momentum of the political movement spurred by figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Last month, Carville called democratic socialists “fucking stupid” for their frustrations with moderate Democrats whom the movement views as being politically impotent. Sen.
