A total of 20 illegal migrants and the driver transporting them were detained during a specialized operation carried out by the Regional Directorate of Border Police in Burgas.

The operation was launched after authorities received information about a minibus carrying foreign nationals who had allegedly crossed the Bulgarian-Turkish border illegally. To prevent the vehicle from reaching populated areas, border police strengthened inspections at checkpoints and deployed blocking measures along the suspected route.

The minibus was later located traveling toward Burgas and was forcibly stopped near the Ropotamo River. Authorities said the location was deliberately chosen to minimize risks to other motorists and ensure the safe completion of the operation.

According to preliminary information, the migrants are Afghan nationals. The driver was also detained as part of the operation.

Pre-trial proceedings have been opened, and the investigation is continuing under the supervision of the Burgas District Prosecutor's Office.
