Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday continued to gun for Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, claiming that people of the state saw in the latter "BJP's attempt to bring back jungle raj reminiscent of RJD's rule".Talking to the media a day after he smashed the BJP bastion of Bankipur on his electoral debut, Kishor said he was "proud" that the party was being headed by Nitin Nabin, who previously represented the constituency, but disapproved of the notion that the assembly seat was a "citadel" of the ruling party."No party can claim a constituency to be its citadel (garh). In a democracy, all citadels are built by the people and they can bring it down when they wish. And this is the sentiment of the common people of Bihar. This has been proven in the by-poll to Bankipur. I have nothing personal against Samrat Choudhary, but Bihar wants to have a chief minister with a decent education and without a criminal record," said Kishor.He pointed out, "It is not that I started highlighting only recently Choudhary's criminal antecedents, his lack of educational qualifications and his equivocation on even things like his date of birth. Ever since coming to power, his language has been that of a ruler presiding over a police state. Nitish Kumar (JDU president) had been a Chief Minister for 20 years. Nobody heard him bragging that the police would kill those wearing gamcha (scarves) of a particular colour," he said.The allusion was to a controversial speech by Choudhary in which he had spoken of identifying those carrying "hara gamcha" (green scarves), a veiled reference to RJD workers, with the help of AI and bringing them to justice.Kishor said, "Such language is a reflection on Samrat Choudhary's own character and the fact that he has cut his teeth in the RJD. In him the people of Bihar saw the BJP's attempt to bring back the jungle raj they had suffered for over a decade."The Jan Suraaj Party president also said, "Like every resident of Bihar, I feel proud when a son of the soil makes it big. So, Nitin Nabin becoming the BJP president is a matter of pride for me as well. People must have noticed that during my election campaign, I never made an adverse remark about him."Notably, Nabin, who had won Bankipur for the fifth consecutive term last year, gave it up in April upon election to the Rajya Sabha."I never argued with those who say that Nitin Nabin had performed well as an MLA. But the people were offended by the BJP's swagger that got reflected in statements like even a cat or a dog could win Bankipur on its ticket", said Kishor.The allusion was to an alleged remark by Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who has been denying having made such a statement since the BJP's humiliating defeat in the by-poll. The party had fielded Neeraj Kumar Sinha, a low-key youth wing leader, who was roped in hurriedly after Abhishek 'Bunty' withdrew his candidature citing "family reasons".Replying to a query, Kishor, who as an election strategist had offered services to politicians as diverse as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, said "I got a lead in all 422 polling booths which is proof that people from every section of the society had voted for me. Those crediting my victory to one social segment or the other may have their own reasons. That is not my perception."
