Fermenta Biotech Ltd, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of the active pharmaceutical ingredient in Vitamin D3, has listed its equity shares on the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSE). The listing marks a milestone in Fermenta’s 75-year journey, it said.The company’s 2,94,30,987 equity shares, of face value ₹5 each, have been listed, the company said, adding that its shares would remain listed on the BSE, as well.Global expansionFermenta’s NSE listing reflects its growth, expanding global customer base and widening investor interest, it said. Founded in 1951 and listed on the BSE since 1977, the company has since grown with customers now in more than 60 countries.Prashant Nagre, Fermenta Managing Director said, “Fermenta’s listing on the NSE represents a significant milestone in a landmark year for the company, as we commemorate 75 years of Fermenta and nearly five decades as a publicly listed enterprise....We will continue to enhance our capabilities across nutrition, food fortification, green chemistry and specialised solutions.”Just last month, the company had said, its plant-source Vitamin D3 (Vitadee Green) had received approval from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI). The ingredient could be used in food, health supplements and nutraceutical supplements, Nagre had told businessline, adding that they were looking to ramp up over the next three months to tap possibilities in India and overseas.Fermenta Biotech was a subsidiary of DIL (Duphar-Interfran Ltd) and following a reverse merger (2017-18), Fermenta remained as the listed entity on BSE. Vitamin D sales accounts for over 70 per cent of Fermenta’s total revenue of ₹551 crore for the year ended March 2026.Published on August 4, 2026
