The attorney of a Republican congressman accused of domestic violence said Tuesday that he accidentally posted “sensitive content” of the lawmaker’s 2-year-old daughter.Rep. Max Miller’s ex-wife, Emily Moreno, has accused the Ohio Republican of throwing hot water from a skillet at her, holding a gun to her head, and possibly fracturing their daughter’s collarbone, according to police records obtained by Mother Jones. Moreno is the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio).In a 20-minute video Miller posted over the weekend, he said he had “nothing to hide” and wouldn’t end his reelection campaign over his ex’s allegations. Along with the video, Miller released a package of documents meant to dispute her accusations.In a Monday filing, Moreno’s lawyers said the documents included a sensitive image of the former couple’s 2-year-old daughter.“The first time Miller shared the folder, it contained private images of Miller and Ms. Moreno’s daughter and left her name unredacted,” the filing said. “At least one of those images could be considered Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) because the daughter’s genitals appear to be visible.”The post was viewed over 204,000 times before it was eventually taken down, according to the filing.Aaron Minc, Miller’s attorney, released a statement Tuesday taking responsibility for releasing the image, calling it a “mistake.”“In the course of assembling and publishing a large volume of documents, I was responsible for ensuring that any sensitive information was redacted and removed from the files,” Minc’s statement said.“Unfortunately, I missed the last three pages of a 40+ page document with sensitive content,” the statement added. “It was completely unintentional and a mistake. The moment I discovered the issue on Monday morning, I [corrected] the file immediately.”While Minc apologized, he still blamed Moreno for bringing media attention to his mistake.“I find it egregious and shameful that Ms. Moreno and [her] counsels have decided to make a media spectacle regarding this unfortunate mistake and attract media attention to this incident as a means to try to gain leverage in court and distract from the underlying evidence that exonerates Mr. Miller from the false accusations he is accused of, and he was attempting to fight on his behalf,” the statement said.In 2021, Miller filed a defamation lawsuit against former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham after Grisham alleged that Miller had physically abused her when they dated. He voluntarily dismissed that lawsuit in 2023.Miller filed a similar defamation lawsuit against Moreno over her claims of abuse, but dropped it last week.On Sunday, Sen. Bernie Moreno called the last two years “pure hell” for his family and called on Miller to seek “serious psychological help” and step down from his position.“If there are any basic standards of character required to hold elected office, Max Miller fails them,” the senator posted on X. “He should not serve in the House of Representatives. I believe Max Miller needs to seek professional help to end the clear pattern of abuse he has left in his wake.
