The King of the Monsters is about to hit the Big Apple. Takashi Yamazaki’s “Godzilla Minus Zero” will have its world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival, Film at Lincoln Center announced on Tuesday.
The film, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2023’s Oscar-winning “Godzilla Minus One,” will roar into Alice Tully Hall on Sept. 26. Yamazaki and members of the cast and crew will be in attendance.
The festival takes place from Sept. 25 through Oct. 12. James Gray’s “Paper Tiger” has been announced as the opening film, Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!” as the centerpiece, and Ava DuVernay’s documentary “14th” will be the festival’s closing film.
“Godzilla Minus Zero” picks up in 1949, two years after “Godzilla Minus One,” and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. Something tells us the chaos will involve a scaly, fire-breathing beast and a boatload of property damage. “Godzilla Minus Zero” is a GKIDS release.
