Commonly postponed milestones include buying a house (31%), pursuing higher education (26%), starting a family (24%), and getting married (20%). Many Gen Z individuals are concerned these goals may be unattainable, with 34 percent doubting they will ever own a home and 20 percent believing they may never afford children. The financial challenges stem from historically high property prices, near-18-year-high mortgage rates, and increasing college tuition costs. Gen Z approaches these delays as a strategic decision rather than a setback, focusing on long-term savings and aiming for an earlier retirement compared to previous generations.
