Two women died on the spot, and three others sustained injuries, after a car overturned on the Chennai-Bengaluru Expressway near Ramapuram village in the V. Kota mandal of Chittoor district on Tuesday afternoon (August 4, 2026).The deceased were identified as Manasa (29) and Gowthami (27), the wife and sister, respectively, of software engineer Anil Kumar (30), a native of Chinnagottigallu in Tirupati district. The family was returning home from Bengaluru when the accident occurred.Police said Anil Kumar allegedly dozed off while negotiating a curve, causing the car to veer off the carriageway and somersault three times before coming to a halt. The two women died on the spot due to the impact.Anil Kumar and two other occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to the Government Hospital in Palamaner.
