A student athlete who received more than $110,000 from Alan Jones over a decade has told a Sydney court he reported indecent assaults to police after the broadcaster was arrested in 2024 because he wanted his child to know “right from wrong”.“I feel like I’m here because of being unable to say no,” the man, known as complainant J, told Downing Centre local court on Tuesday.The alleged victim, who met Jones when he was 14, said he was “disappointed” in himself for failing to stand up to Jones and the alleged abuse.“I’m a father now, and I’m a proud father, and I want to teach my [child] right from wrong and what he was doing was wrong,” J said on day two of Jones’s trial on 22 indecent assault and sexual touching charges. Jones has pleaded not guilty.The complainant, now in his 40s, earlier on Tuesday told the court details of alleged indecent assaults at Jones’s farm in Fitzroy Falls in the Southern Highlands when he was 17.J said that, over a glass of wine after dinner, Jones told him: “There is only one rule here: There are no rules.”J told the court that the broadcaster later allegedly said: “Go and have a shower and come out wearing a robe and nothing else.”Asked by the crown prosecutor Georgina Wright if he followed those instructions, J said: “No, I put my underpants on, and then I put the robe on and went out.” Jones was in a room with a grand piano, the court heard.Wright asked J: “Why did you put the underpants on?”“I almost knew what was going to happen,” J replied. “Easy access. He’s going to touch me.”J alleged Jones was sitting on the lounge, also in a robe, and was drinking a glass of wine.J alleged that Jones “looked me straight in the eye” and stated in a “quiet”, “calm” and “sympathising tone”: “I said the robe and nothing.”The alleged victim told the court that Jones then “put his hand back on my penis and started rubbing it”.Jones has denied all wrongdoing and said the allegations were either baseless or distorted the truth.Jones’s defence barrister Gabrielle Bashir SC on Monday argued the alleged victims were egged on to complain by media rivals, and their reliability and credibility were questionable.This included, Bashir alleged, shockjock Ray Hadley and Sydney Morning Herald columnist Peter FitzSimons.J on Tuesday told the court that later that same evening in Fitzroy Falls, he and Jones watched TV and discussed sport.The then-teenager mentioned he was getting tired and said he was going to bed, J told the court.After J went to his room, he alleged that he heard a “tap, tap, tap”, and Jones came into the room.“He said ‘Is everything OK [J]?’” J alleged Jones came closer and said in a “really passionate voice … ‘I love you mate’ and pulled me in for a cuddle”.He alleged that Jones “groped” him on the bum and “it was aggressive”.“While I was being held by the buttocks, he reached around and undid my robe, and he pulled my underpants down a quarter way down my legs,” J told the court.“He started to wiggle his body so our penises would cross and touch each other.skip past newsletter promotionafter newsletter promotion“There was a slight opportunity where the grip … was released … I was able to step back and sat on the bed, and said I was going to go to bed.”J alleged that Jones then walked to the other side of the bed.“My heart was racing. I was as scared and nervous as I had been in a long time. It was that feeling when you go into a room you’ve never been in, like a scary room, my heart felt like it was going to come out of my chest.“The defendant placed his hand on my penis and began to squeeze it tight and release it. I was frozen.”J alleged that Jones then said “let’s come together” and they both masturbated.“I thought if I do this, and I just do it myself, it can be over … and would prevent him from doing it or being near me or touching me. I thought it was the quickest way to make it over and done with, and that’s what happened.”J told the court he did not consent to what unfolded in the room.J said he watched Jones’s arrest on television almost two years ago, and he contacted the police station where Jones was taken. J was put in contact with a detective and made a statement, he told the court.“People need me to do this,” he said on Tuesday. “It’s the right thing to do.”J said he did not want money, and he would not pursue Jones for compensation in a civil court. “I just want justice,” he told the court.Under cross-examination by defence barrister Bashir, J said he had not read articles by Kate McClymont that were published in the Sydney Morning Herald before Jones’s arrest.“I am not sure who that is,” J said.J repeatedly disagreed with Bashir when she put to him that he had read details about other alleged indecent assaults in the press before making a statement to the police.“I don’t read newspapers,” J said. He said he did not have a subscription to the Sydney Morning Herald.“It’s my evidence that I haven’t read or seen any of the specifics,” J said. “I have never read any of this.”The trial continues.
