Emotional Cruz Beckham revealed he 'almost started crying' during a call with his parents before a huge performance12:48, 04 Aug 2026Updated 12:49, 04 Aug 2026Cruz Beckham has revealed that he became so emotional during a phone call with his parents just moments before his Lollapalooza performance that he almost started crying.‌The 21-year-old - youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham - was on the line-up for the iconic US festival with his band, The Breakers, over the weekend.‌They were joined in Chicago by a string of huge names across the weekend, including Jade Thirlwall, Lorde, Olivia Dean, Jennie, Sombr, CMAT, Yungblud and Little Simz.‌However, in a new behind-the-scenes video documenting their performance, he confessed that he was overcome with nerves before the group hit the stage.“It is Lollapalooza day. I am very nervous,” he told the camera. “Just the fact that people aren't even there just to see us… That's the thing, people are there to see other things as well. This is just going to be a side quest to them, so it's got to be really, really f***ing good.‌“I'm so grateful for this opportunity. I understand the privilege that I've been given, I just want to give the best show and be able to show people who I really am, and show people what I can do.“It's going to be fun, but damn, man… Let’s do it!”Shedding light on his pre-show conversation with his parents - who are currently on holiday in St Tropez - Cruz admitted that he became emotional at the prospect of them watching him on stage from afar.‌He added: “I was on the phone to my mum and dad just now, and I was telling them how they can stream it, and then I almost started crying.”Following footage of his performance in front of the packed crowd, the clip ended with the musician interacting with fans, taking selfies and signing a string of dad David’s England shirts.‌“@lollapalooza I have no words. Chicago, we can’t wait to come back. Thank you,” he captioned the post, which was quickly flooded with supportive comments from friends and family.“WOW Cruz amazing so proud of you x,” grandmother Sandra Beckham cheered, while aunt Joanne added: “Proud auntie.”Following a tour in the US, Cruz and the Breakers will be heading back over the pond for performances in Norwich and Sheffield, before popping up at Reading and Leeds Festival.‌Ahead of the release of their album, Wear & Tear, later this month, the frontman touched on the themes of the songs in a chat with the Reading Chronicle.“Wear & Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far – the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between,” he told the outlet.“No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human."Article continues below“We’ve been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset – we’ve lived and learned," he added.
