Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Tuesday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 8,167 crore for the April-June quarter of FY27, a more than 37% year-on-year increase from the Rs 5,948 crore net profit reported in the same period last year.Bharti Airtel’s revenue from operations increased over 18% YoY to Rs 58,539 crore during the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027, from Rs 49,463 crore reported in the year-ago period.The telecom major’s average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to Rs 264 in Q1 FY27, as against Rs 250 in the year-ago period. The company’s ARPU in the previous quarter (Q4 FY26) stood at Rs 257.The company highlighted that it has posted industry leading mobile ARPU. Notably, rival Jio’s ARPU during the same quarter stood at Rs 215.6.Bharti Airtel’s EBITDA increased over 19% YoY to Rs 33,598.89 crore during the first quarter of FY27. Its total customer base increased by 1.49 crore during the period to stand at over 68 crore. Its net debt meanwhile fell around 1.4% YoY to Rs 16,454 crore. EBITDA margin improved to 57.4% in Q1 FY27, as against 56.9% in Q1 FY26.The telco said that its revenue growth was supported by strong growth across India and Africa operations. Its India business posted a 9% YoY jump in revenue at Rs 41,214 crore, driven by sustained portfolio premiumisation in mobile and strong momentum in homes and airtel business.Bharti Airtel recorded the highest ever quarterly postpaid customer additions of 1 million, thereby reaching a customer base of 30 million. The smartphone data customer base grew by 21.1 million over the past year, marking a 7.5% YoY increase.What Bharti Airtel’s management said“We delivered yet another quarter of strong performance, supported by the resilience of our diversified portfolio and sharp execution across businesses,” said Bharti Airtel Executive Vice Chairman Gopal Vittal. He added that during Q1, the company completed a large and an EPS accretive share swap transaction to increase our stake in Airtel Africa to over 79%. “This is a strong reflection of our conviction in Africa’s long-term growth potential and the significant opportunities across our businesses,” he said.“Our balance sheet remains strong, reflecting disciplined capital allocation and focused investments to future-proof Airtel,” the executive further said.Bharti Airtel share priceBharti Airtel announced its quarterly earnings in the post market hours of Tuesday. Earlier during the day, the shares of the company closed nearly flat at Rs 1,970 apiece on NSE. The stock has overall gained 4% in a week and 3% in a month, but remained 7% down in 2026 so far.In the longer term, Bharti Airtel shares have delivered 3% return in one year, 121% in three years and 246% in five years.
