Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), says the exit of Atiku Abubakar,former Vice President from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presents an opportunity for the party to rebuild and strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike dismissed claims that Atiku’s departure had plunged the opposition party into crisis.
Instead, he said the PDP should focus on resolving its internal disputes and respecting decisions reached through its democratic processes.
According to him, “The PDP has no crisis because Atiku has left,” Wike said, adding that the party’s future depends on strengthening its internal structures rather than any individual.
Wike said the party should recognise the outcome of the South-South Zonal Congress held in Calabar, Cross River State, which elected Chief Daniel Orbi as the PDP’s National Vice Chairman for the zone.
