Manchester United has agreed a mega £20m-per-season deal with Betway
Manchester United has agreed a mega £20m-per-season deal that will see gambling giant Betway become a sponsor of their training kits.The agreement comes in the same season Premier League clubs introduced a ban on gambling and casino brands featuring as front-of-shirt partners on home and away kits.The deal is reportedly the biggest of its kind in world football, with Manchester United’s chief business officer Marc Armstrong stating that the “scale of our exciting new partnership reflects our growth strategy, the enduring global strength and appeal of Manchester United, and our ability to attract leading brands that want to engage with our vast worldwide fanbase”.United was unable to secure a top end sponsor for their men’s and women’s training kits, after a previous deal with blockchain network Tezos concluded in 2025.But the club – owned by the Glazer family and Ineos billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe – has secured the agreement with the Super Group-owned brand ahead of their return to the Champions League under Michael Carrick. The brand will also feature on the playing sleeves. Financial boon for Manchester UnitedManchester United was one of the minority of clubs not in the market for a new premier front-of-shirt sponsor ahead of this season, with many Premier League clubs forced to replace gambling firms.Their kits are supplied by Adidas in a deal that is understood to be worth £90m per season and they will be branded with technology brand Snapdragon, who pay around £60m per season. Other club sponsors include the likes of Malaysia Airlines, Coca-Cola, Apollo Tyres and Cadbury.Betway – on the NYSE under Super Group – is in the same gaming portfolio as online casino Spin, and bingo giant Jumpman Gaming.The coming season will see Manchester United compete in the Champions League for the first time since their group stage exit in 2024. In 2025 they lost the second-tier Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur and last season did not qualify for any continental competition.
