Chinese AI start-up DeepSeek has released its latest low-cost, open-weight model, V4-Flash, in the country’s latest challenge to Silicon Valley giants.
The release comes after new open-weight models from Moonshot AI and Zhipu AI, also known as Z.ai, also attained near-parity with US flagships while operating at significantly lower cost.
DeepSeek’s V4-Pro, which the company has been previewing since April, is the company’s largest-ever, at 1.6 trillion parameters, while V4-Flash has 284 billion parameters.
