Apple is challenging a new attempt by the UK government to force it to provide access to UK customers’ encrypted data, according to a notice issued by the Investigatory Powers Tribunal.
The court sent a notice of Apple’s new complaint to Privacy International, which previously worked with campaign group Liberty to launch a separate complaint on the government’s secret data orders, called technical capability notices, at the IPT.
A case management hearing on how to discuss the parallel complaints by the campaign groups and Apple has been scheduled for September, Privacy International told the Financial Times.
