Nidec Announces the Second Report on Ransomware-caused Damage to and Possibility of Information Leak at an Overseas Subsidiary of Nidec Corporation
Nidec Corporation (TOKYO: 6594; OTC US: NJDCY) (“Nidec Corporation,” the “Company,” or “we”) hereby provides an update on the results of the investigation by an external specialized agency and the current status of the unauthorized access to, and the damage caused by the ransomware infection suffered by, Nidec Chaun Choung Technology Corporation (“Nidec Chaun Choung Technology”), a Taiwanese subsidiary of the Company – the news it announced on June 24, 2026. We deeply apologize to our shareholders, investors, business partners, and others concerned for the tremendous anxiety that this matter must have caused.
Views on the investigation results and information leak
The forensic investigation by an external specialized agency (a local investigation firm) hired by Nidec Chaun Choung Technology has so far confirmed no explicit evidence (e.g., logs) showing any data leak. On the other hand, however, even though the third party claiming to have launched the ransomware attack has not disclosed the very files that had been saved on Nidec Chaun Choung Technology’s server subject to the attack on the attacker’s website on the socalled dark web, part of the list of folder and file names was confirmed to be published. Thus, the Company determined that, despite lack of clear evidence of information leak in the external specialized agency’s forensic investigation, it is difficult to deny possible leak of the data on the aforementioned list and other information. As of today, no data on the folder and file list has been confirmed to have been published on the dark web.
