Referring to the ongoing talks with the Islamic Republic, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that these negotiations are “Iran’s last chance to sign a proper agreement.” Trump also noted that we will find out today or tomorrow whether the talks will yield a result.
He added that the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz could happen “by tomorrow,” after which negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear programme will begin.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, August 3, Trump said: “The matter will be resolved very quickly, one way or another; it is not a very complicated issue. We are talking about reopening the Strait of Hormuz so that this waterway might be completely open by tomorrow.”
He further stated that reopening the Strait of Hormuz represents the first phase of negotiations, after which the two sides will hold talks on an agreement aimed at what he termed “Iran’s nuclear disarmament.”
Trump reiterated: “We are very firm on this; Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
