NEW YORK: The United Nations on Monday condemned civilian killings in Gaza and said health care facilities must be protected after a strike near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital damaged a medical storage facility.

UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq said the World Health Organization reported the Saturday strike destroyed essential medical supplies it had delivered and caused minor damage to the hospital building.

Haq said daily air strikes, shelling and shooting continued across Gaza over the weekend, reportedly killing dozens, including children and other civilians.
