Russia Says Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills Seven at Black Sea Beach
At least seven people, including three children, were killed and 40 others injured after a drone crashed onto a crowded beach in Russia’s Krasnodar region, according to local authorities. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians, although Kyiv has not commented on the incident and both sides continue to deny intentionally attacking civilian targets.
Verified footage showed the drone plunging towards the beach near the Black Sea resort village of Arkhipo Osipovka before exploding in a fireball as holidaymakers fled. Russian officials said 17 of the injured were hospitalised. Some Ukrainian Telegram channels suggested the drone may have been diverted by Russian electronic warfare systems, while witnesses told Russian media they heard gunfire before the explosion, indicating air defences may have attempted to intercept it.
The incident comes as drone attacks continue to reach deeper into Russian territory, highlighting the growing risks to civilians far from the front lines of the war.
