The Thanjavur East Police has received a complaint from the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam womens’ wing organiser, Thanjavur Central District Unit, alleging the Leader of Opposition and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam youth wing leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin had made comments maligning the image of a woman public personality during his speech at a demonstration organised by DMK at Thanjavur on Monday (August 3, 2026).In her complaint dated August 3, S. Bairavi said atthe demonstration in Thanjavur on Monday, some persons from the crowd chanted the name of a woman actor while the DMK leader was criticising the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, C. Joseph Vijay for not making public statements on Cauvery issue.At this juncture, more people from the crowd started chanting the name an actor who has starred along with Mr.Vijay in several films. The DMK leader had then made “derogatory and disparaging remarks” about the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister at the meeting. The remarks made by the DMK leader about a woman public personality had upset several woman like her (Ms.Bairavi), she said and urged the police to register a complaint.
