MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte used part of her office’s confidential funds (CF) to buy tables, chairs, printers and other computer equipment with only acknowledgement receipts (ARs) to prove the purchases, a prosecution witness told the Senate impeachment court on Monday.

According to state auditor Roderick Wamil, the ARs were submitted by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) to the Commission on Audit (COA) in response to its Audit Observation Memorandum (AOM) on the P125 million CF released to Duterte’s office in December 2022.

Wamil was presented as witness by the prosecution through private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan in connection with Duterte’s alleged misuse of confidential funds under her office and when she was still secretary of the Department of Education.
