Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Neon released the teaser trailer for Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo on Monday. The film will play at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Takashi Miike directs the Japanese entry in the Bad Lieutenant series from screenwriter Daisuke Tengan. Shun Oguri, Lily James and Liv Morgan star.
An official synopsis says the film follows a "disgraced Tokyo detective" embroiled with the FBI, ex-Yakuza and missing American girl. The trailer shows scenes on Tokyo streets, a nightclub and Yakuza sitting around a table.
The original 1992 Bad Lieutenant starred Harvey Keitel from director Abel Ferrara. Werner Herzog directed Nicolas Cage in the unrelated Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans in 2009.
