Shares of banks and other financial institutions rose as private-credit worries abated.

Shares of Ares Management surged after reporting Friday that fundraising for its private-credit investment vehicles rebounded in the latest quarter. Rivals such as Blue Owl also added to recent gains.

The sector was also boosted by deal activity. Visa agreed to buy BioCatch, a fraud-reduction platform, for $2.4 billion in cash.

JPMorgan Chase plans to invest $750 billion through 2035 as part of an initiative to support homeownership in the U.S.
