A visibly angry President Donald Trump told reporters Monday he thought Jeanine Pirro “choked,” in light of her decision to drop criminal charges against a former Olympian she accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.“Frankly I think she choked,” Trump said, while also blaming the judge in the case. “I don’t know what the hell happened.”The president then lashed out when a second reporter, from MS NOW, asked if he’s reconsidering Pirro’s role as the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. The same reporter had asked earlier in the press conference why Trump believes he should be subject to a different tax code than every other American, given acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s sweeping grant of tax immunity to the president.“Don’t ever talk again,” Trump snapped. “You’re fake news, one of the worst in the business. Fortunately nobody watches you.”(Sources told CNN Trump is indeed “furious” with Pirro and it’s “highly likely she’s removed from her job.”)Trump returned to Pirro moments later, remarking she “folded like an umbrella.”Trump has been seeking a scapegoat for his botched $16 million, no-bid Reflecting Pool renovation after it was both overwhelmed by algae and pieces began peeling off.In July, at Trump’s urging, Pirro indicted David Hearn, a former Olympic canoe racer, accusing him of “forcefully and violently” pulling the pool liner off “with both hands.”“This is a case with tremendous evidence,” Pirro boasted at the time.Hearn maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal.Pirro dropped the case Friday afternoon, with prosecutors acknowledging “that the damage was the result of a botched installation and not vandalism as initially represented.”
