PM CARES FundIt is disturbing that the PM CARES Fund has reportedly not made public its audited financial statements for the past three financial years, even as activists continue to raise concerns about its transparency. More surprising is that the fund has been kept outside the ambit of the RTI Act, parliamentary scrutiny, and audit by the Controller and Auditor General (CAG). Anything associated with the Prime Minister, except matters affecting national security, should ordinarily be open to public scrutiny. When the government closely scrutinises non-governmental organisations and other charitable organisations receiving foreign contributions, and even cancels their licences for accounting irregularities, should not this fund also be subject to similar standards of accountability?Tharcius S. Fernando,ChennaiIndia at GlasgowIndia’s story at the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, with 39 medals, is about far more than a fourth-place finish. Despite fewer opportunities, our athletes chose courage over excuses. Every medal reflects years of sacrifice, silent tears, and relentless determination.Today, we salute not only the medallists but also every athlete who gave their all. Champions are defined as much by their spirit as by their podium finishes. The journey continues, and India hopes for even greater performances ahead.Mudgal Venkatesh,Kalaburagi, Karnataka Published - August 04, 2026 12:24 am IST
