Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The National Park Service's review of President Donald Trump's proposed Triumphal Arch has found that it would negatively impact dozens of historic sites in Washington, D.C.
The NPS said Monday that about 40 historic sites around the city would be adversely affected by the presence of the arch, including the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, the Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Capitol.
Trump is seeking to construct a 250-foot arch, a scale that breaks local height restrictions. It would be more than twice the height of the Lincoln Memorial and would be visible from many other notable locations, fundamentally altering the city skyline.
The arch is planned to be built on Memorial Circle between the Arlington Memorial Bridge and the Arlington National Cemetery. It would include an observation deck, which would give visitors on the deck a viewpoint of private funerals held at the cemetery.
