Glorya Kaufman helped transform the Los Angeles performing arts landscape by channeling the immense wealth she and her late husband, Donald Bruce Kaufman, built through the Fortune 500 homebuilding company Kaufman & Broad (now KB Home).
When she died in August 2025 at age 95, the prominent philanthropist left behind a remarkable legacy. In 2009, she gifted $20 million to the Music Center to fund performances by elite global troupes like the American Ballet Theatre, marking the largest individual donation in L.A. dance history. She later cemented her impact in 2012 by fully endowing the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, followed by the opening of its International Dance Center in 2015.
