Fire and rescue and police vehicles at the scene of a house fire on the corner of Palgrave and Meade streets in George on Monday
A George tenant has been arrested on suspicion of arson after allegedly setting fire to the house he was renting following an eviction notice.
Tragically, a body was discovered in the debris. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies confirmed that emergency services were dispatched to the corner of Palgrave and Meade streets at approximately 5.30am on Monday.
Spies said that during the search of the scene, a body was discovered under the debris.
The 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene on an arson charge.
