Century Plyboards (India) Ltd. (CenturyPly), a leading manufacturer of plywood, laminates, veneers, MDF, prelam board etc will invest ₹2,500 crore to ₹2,700 crore within 5 years to double it’s capacity and revenue to ₹12,000 crore by 2031 said it’s executive director Keshav Bhajanka. He was speaking at a briefing to announce a comprehensive warranty on the company’s premium range of plywood where in it will reimburse the full cost of entire furniture to the customer in case of any defect in the ply in 10 years. The company said this is a first of it’s kind globally. While a plant under construction in Hoshiarpur will be operational in October, the land for the plant in UP has been identified and the company is looking for land for the project in Odisha, he said. Demand for plywood and company’s other products are rising in line with the growth of the housing industry, Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, CenturyPly said adding the company plywood business in the last quarter grew by 30%.She said due to the rising demand for high-quality products and the company’s over 40 years legacy the top line had grown three times to about ₹6,000 crore since COVID.She said the company took a decision two and half years ago to come out such a total cover offer when it centralised every customer complaint from across India into a single system and its leadership began reading each one. She said about 0.06% of the products had some complaints and the company was confident of meeting its commitment.“Warranties in this category have historically meant one thing: replacing the plywood. Total Cover moves the basis of competition from product claims to financial commitment -a ten-year undertaking on the customer’s full furniture cost that cannot be made casually and, it cannot be easily replicated,” the company said. The offer covers defect in Club Prime or Architect Ply range within ten years of purchase. CenturyPly will reimburse the furniture-related costs arising from that defect - plywood, laminates or veneers, adhesives, labour and transportation estimated at the time of claim not at the time of purchase, the company said.Homeowners need to register their purchase online within ninety days, receive a digital warranty certificate and, whenever required, initiate claims through the warranty portal or CenturyPly’s toll-free customer support.
