Kirby Lee / Imagn ImagesAug. 3, 2026 12:08 pm EDT Updated U.S. Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson pleaded no contest last month to a speeding charge that led to her arrest in Florida in January.Police said they pulled Richardson over for traveling at more than 104 mph, with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department saying she was “dangerously tailgating and traveling across lanes of travel to pass other motorists.” Richardson was charged with “dangerous and excessive speeding” and released on a $500 bond.A no contest plea means Richardson did not admit guilt, but did not challenge the charge and waived her right to a trial. The Athletic has reached out to Richardson’s attorney and will update this story with any response.Richardson won gold as part of the women’s 4×100-meter relay team and silver in the 100 meters for the U.S. at the 2024 Summer Olympics, after a positive test for THC kept her off the 2021 Olympic team. On July 24, she won her third title in the 100m at the USA Track and Field Championships.
