Every envoy needs to send home weapons, the Ukrainian President said
Less protocol, more weapons: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told his ambassadors that the amount of weapons they secure for Ukraine will be the defining measure of their performance.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the heads of Ukraine’s foreign diplomatic missions, Zelenskyy said every ambassador should “bring weapons” and “know where air defence missiles can be sourced” in their host countries.
“Every ambassador must bring weapons,” he said, calling for embassy performance indicators to be rewritten “around military deliveries and financial support”.
Weapons and military technology, he added, “are not only the work of military attachés, but also a direct diplomatic responsibility of ambassadors themselves.”
