The hugely popular series stars Vicky McClure as the fearless but troubled bomb disposal officer Lana Washington.‌ITV have teased that Lana and her team will face their "greatest challenge yet". In new images, she can be seen with her fellow bomb disposal officers, Danny (Eric Shango) and Phil Croxley (Christopher Hatherall), kitted out in all their gear. The three can also be seen in the trailer, where a voice tells says: "What we're facing is unprecedented."‌‌Julie Graham's Nia Quentin is also in the trailer, and tells her team that they are facing "the biggest terror attack that this country has ever seen". She appeared in the first look images alongside Michale Balogun, as Andy Oldfield.Graham, who has previously appeared in Shetland as Rhona Kelly, is a guest star, making her Trigger Point debut this series as the team's new commander.‌McClure appeared in another photo alongside Nabil Elouahabi's Hassan Rahim. Like her picture with Shango and Hatherall, the two were in their bomb disposal uniforms as they did their jobs in London. The team were also seen in a speedboat on the Thames. Speaking about returning to the series, McClure said: “I love working with the team, we have a great time making the show and I cannot wait to continue Lana’s journey on Trigger Point.”In other pictures, Maanuv Thiara and Natalie Simpson can be seen at a table. They play DCI Amar Batra and Helen Morgan respectively, and have broth been in the show since series two.‌ITV's director of drama Polly Hill said: "I'm delighted that this thrilling series is returning for a fourth series. I know audiences will be once again on the edge of their seat as Lana and the team take us on another thrilling ride to keep the capital safe."‌The new series will be six-episodes long and ITV have kept the plot tightly under wraps. Among the producers is Jed Mercurio, who is most famous for creating Line of Duty, which also stars McClure.Line of Duty, which is about an anti-corruption team rooting out the criminals within the police force, is also set to return soon.
