Jordan Henderson has completed his move to Chelsea after Brentford mutually agreed to terminate his deal.The 36-year-old midfielder left Brentford on Wednesday after an agreement had been reached to end his contract halfway through his two-year deal. He has signed for Chelsea until the summer of 2028.The Athletic had reported two days before his Brentford exit that Chelsea were the leading contenders to sign Henderson and were working on a deal. The situation with his former club was described as amicable, and Keith Andrews’ side were ready to grant the former Liverpool man a free transfer.Brentford have subsequently completed a club-record signing of midfielder Mamadou Sangare from French club Lens.“Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn’t turn down,” Henderson told club media upon his signing.The midfielder also said he was “impressed” by the attitude of Chelsea’s ownership.Henderson becomes Chelsea’s eighth arrival of the summer, following Valentin Barco, Danny Welbeck, Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, Geovany Quenda, Marco Palestra and Emmanuel Emegha.
