Phillies: ARelievers are notoriously volatile year to year – performance-wise, anyway – but Raley has been an exception. This is his fifth season in a row with an ERA under 3.00. From 2022 to now, he has a 2.42 ERA in 209 games, with more strikeouts than innings and a 1.04 WHIP. He had Tommy John surgery in the middle of that run (2024) but has come back strong.Raley has held lefties to a .186 average this season, with righties hitting 20 points better. If the Phillies meet the Dodgers again in October, the good news is that Raley has held down Shohei Ohtani (1 for 7) and Freddie Freeman (1 for 6). The bad news is that Kyle Tucker is 3 for 3 with a homer off him.
Spikerman is a speedy, switch-hitting outfielder with no power who has slashed .232/.376/.323 since being drafted from the University of Oklahoma in the third round in 2024. Gabrysh, a right-handed starter, has a 4.17 ERA since being drafted from St. Joseph’s (PA) University in the 15th round in 2024.It’s a rental setup reliever, so the prices are almost always reasonable. The Mets evidently see something in Spikerman and Gabrysh, and maybe they’ll get help in time.
