SportHorse racingAscot racecourseThe Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup at Ascot on Saturday has been boosted by the news that Ryan Moore and Dylan Browne McMonagle will be in action15:38, 03 Aug 2026Ryan Moore will make only his second appearance in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup at Ascot on Saturday, with the event further strengthened by confirmation that rising star Dylan Browne McMonagle will compete.‌Moore, who secured the Silver Saddle award for leading rider in the team competition during his only previous participation in 2006, has been freed up with no Flat racing scheduled in Ireland that afternoon.‌Moore and McMonagel will represent the Great Britain and Ireland team which will be captained by Saffie Osborne at the event which will also feature teams from Hong Kong, Europe and the Rest Of The World.‌The Hong Kong Jockey Club will field a team, led by Vincent Ho, who claimed Shergar Cup glory in 2019 as part of the victorious Rest of the World squad. He will be accompanied by Jerry Chau and Luke Ferraris.Christophe Lemaire will skipper Europe, alongside Marie Velon and Frida Valle Skar, while Jamie Melham (nee Kah) will return to spearhead the Rest of the World. She will be partnered by Japan's Yutake Take and Suraj Narredu, who steered team Asia to victory last year.‌Ascot's head of corporate and industry affairs Will Aitkenhead said: "It's absolutely fantastic to have Ryan and Dylan on board. Both had very strong Royal Ascots, with Ryan the leading jockey, and both had very good weeks at Goodwood."It's really helpful the Phoenix Stakes has moved from the Saturday to the Sunday at the Curragh this year which frees them up and it's great to have them board.Article continues below"We'd been in discussions with Oisin (Murphy) and Billy (Loughnane) earlier in the year and they were keen, but they just don't know where they'll be.
