Dubbed the French Borgen, the series will take on European politics
Critically-acclaimed French political thriller Baron Noir has chosen the inauspicious setting of the EU institutions for its return to the small screen.
Filming for the fourth season is underway at the European Council’s Europa building in Brussels, where a crew is staging a night-time EU summit in the very same third-floor room where leaders usually meet.
The shoot will take place between Monday and Wednesday this week, a Council official confirmed.
The Canal+ series Baron Noir follows the rise to the French presidency of Philippe Rickwaert, played by French-Algerian actor Kad Merad. His character is a disgraced consigliere who manoeuvres his way up to the Elysée Palace, which has also granted the production exceptionally rare access for the new season.
