The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), in collaboration with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Association of Supermarket Operators of Nigeria (ASON), has called on manufacturers, distributors, supermarket operators, retailers, and service providers to comply strictly with price tagging, minimum product labeling requirements, and fair return and refund policies as essential pillars of consumer protection and sustainable business growth.

The call was made during the joint LASCOPA–FCCPC Stakeholders’ engagement forum themed “Price Tagging, Minimum Labelling Requirements and Return/Refund: The Implications of Non-Regulatory Compliance,” held in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, described the forum as a strategic partnership between regulators and industry stakeholders aimed at strengthening compliance through education, collaboration, and continuous dialogue.

Solebo noted that recent enforcement actions across Nigeria against businesses for failing to display price tags, selling expired products, providing inadequate product information, and denying consumers legitimate requests for returns and refunds highlight the urgent need for greater compliance with consumer protection laws.
