Stormers veteran Deon Fourie has recovered from a medial ligament knee injury ahead of Friday night's match against the All Blacks..

Springboks utility forward Deon Fourie is looking forward to having another crack at the All Blacks to rekindle his most precious rugby memory.

For Fourie, the last 28 months have been an arduous cycle of injury, surgery, rehabilitation, and fleeting returns to the field. It has been a frustrating period of angst and genuine concern over whether he should continue his journey as a professional rugby player.

This stretch has tested a level of mental fortitude that would have broken lesser athletes. Since suffering a major ACL injury more than two years ago, the veteran flanker has been haunted by a string of setbacks.

After returning from that knee injury, he managed four matches before picking up an ankle issue. He then suffered a serious bicep injury against Scarlets in his first game back — a setback that left him in tears.
