The clubs are now in direct talks for the Brazil international.Guimaraes is currently en route to La Manga, where Newcastle's pre-season training camp is based. The midfielder is set for talks with incoming Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle.Speculation has intensified in recent days over an £80million agreement but it appears the teams are not yet at that stage. It was even suggested that Guimaraes was scheduled for a medical with the Gunners. However, the 28-year-old departed Brazil on Sunday on a commercial flight, ready to meet up with his Newcastle team-mates. Guimaraes still has two years left on his contract, plus an option for a further year, with the north-east club reluctant to sell.Newcastle have already secured a £100m fee for Sandro Tonali from Tottenham this summer and sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona for in the region of £75m. Guimaraes won't arrive at the Emirates cheaply, despite his interest in the move.Arsenal's initial valuation of Guimaraes is said to have been in the region of £70m. Newcastle are believed to be looking for more than £80m.Further bids are expected from the north London side after falling short with their first offer.FOLLOW OUR ARSENAL FB PAGE!
