The latest Wildberries hit on a depot in the town of Khryastovo, in Russia's Vladimir region, resulted in thick black smoke rising over the facility. It was the 18th attack on online sales giant Wildberries - dubbed the Russian version of Amazon- aimed at punishing the business for supplying military goods.‌This morning’s drone strike came just hours after a Sunday attack on a similar outlet in the Russian region of Samara. It was launched after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Ukraine has run out of essential Patriot missiles, following a weekend ballistic missile attack which killed nine and injured dozens in Kyiv.‌After the weekend Russian attack on Kyiv Zelensky said:“We lack missiles for the Patriot systems. And it is precisely this shortage of anti-ballistic interceptors that only encourages Russia to carry out such deadly strikes.” He added: “Over the past few hours, only one ballistic missile was shot down, simply because there are no missiles for the Patriot systems.”Ukraine also hit a university in Russia’s Belgorod region reportedly involved in developing deadly drone technology. In the past week Russia attacked Ukraine with 1,900 drones, almost 1,600 guided aerial bombs, and 144 missiles of various types, according to the president.‌Zelensky said Russia is ramping up production of ballistic missiles. Previously he has demanded 300 Patriots to get Ukraine through the Winter but they cost £3m each. The US had suggested Ukraine might be issued a licence to produce its own Patriot missiles - but US President Donald Trump appears to have changed his mind. He said: “We’re talking about it, but it’s a hard thing to give away that kind of technology. We have to be very careful."‌Russia’s defence ministry said it downed 635 Ukrainian drones during the night. Moscow does not usually reveal the total number of projectiles fired by Ukraine.Ukraine says Russian military losses hit 2026 monthly high in July Ukraine’s military said Russian forces suffered 42,860 personnel losses in July, the highest monthly total of 2026 and the first time this year that reported losses have gone over 40,000. The figures include soldiers killed, wounded, missing and captured.Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Moscow is preparing to expand military mobilisation to offset mounting casualties.
