United States Central Command, or CENTCOM, announced that since the start of the recent naval blockade targeting Iranian coasts and ports, US forces have diverted 35 commercial vessels, rendered two ships inoperable, and boarded two others for inspection.
In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, August 2, CENTCOM confirmed that a US Navy F-35C Lightning II stealth fighter launched from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea to support ongoing naval blockade operations against Iran.
According to the statement, as of August 2, US military actions under the blockade had resulted in:
35 Commercial Vessels Diverted: Commercial vessels were diverted away from designated restricted maritime zones.
2 Ships Rendered Inoperable: Two ships were rendered inoperable following military intervention.
