WeRide is heading to Denmark. The Chinese autonomous-driving company has struck a partnership with the electric-mobility operator GreenMobility to bring a self-driving service to the country, its first move into the Nordic region.
The two plan to launch a public robotaxi service in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval. The cars will run at Level 4 autonomy, the tier at which a vehicle handles all driving within a defined area with no one behind the wheel.
Denmark is WeRide’s sixth European country, and the speed of that map-filling is the point. The company reached Spain and Slovakia earlier this year and took its robotaxi partnership to Madrid alongside Uber, on top of existing activity in France, Belgium, and Switzerland.
GreenMobility brings the local piece WeRide tends to lean on abroad. It is a Danish operator of shared electric cars that already knows the regulators, the parking rules, and the customers, while WeRide supplies the autonomous stack.
That existing fleet matters more than it sounds. A running car-sharing operation gives the partnership a customer base, a depot network, and a licence to operate before a single autonomous vehicle turns a wheel, which is often the slowest part of standing up a new service.
