President Donald Trump on Sunday suggested that Canada could face some form of penalty from the United States over smoke from the nation’s massive wildfires that’s come across the border. A reporter on Air Force One asked the president if he had decided on a “retaliation” for Canada over wildfire smoke, as he had threatened last month.“I have, yeah,” the president replied. “And you’ll find out about it soon.” When the United States has wildfires, Canadian fire agencies often help. The president said it was in retaliation for what he called discrimination against U.S. cars, booze and dairy products. He’s also repeatedly attacked Canada for years, for any number of reasons, and openly mocked the nation’s prime ministers as the “governor” of the 51st U.S. state.Trump also withdrew an offer for Canada to be part of his “board of peace” for Gaza after Prime Minister Mark Carney received a huge ovation in Davos for a speech urging “middle powers” to stand up to the United States.
