The New York Yankees are not involved in the talks. Hicks bats left-handed, and the Yankees want a right-handed hitting receiver.Stowers, who this season is playing first base for the first time as a professional, might appeal to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Guardians, both of which are seeking upgrades at first. Despite missing the first 3 1/2 weeks with a strained right hamstring, the left-handed hitting Stowers entered Sunday tied for the team lead with 16 home runs.The Marlins failed to reach an extension with Stowers last offseason, but he is still under club control for three additional seasons.
