Forty years after writing his classic songs in Potts Point, Paul Kelly reflects on playing 1am gigs in Kings Cross as he prepares for a rare Sydney show.
Paul Kelly famously rode 13 hours on a bus to get to Kings Cross when he moved there from Melbourne in 1984, but has not played a show in Sydney’s former red-light district for about 40 years – but he will later this month.
The popular troubadour will return to the area that inspired songs like Darling It Hurts, Incident On South Dowling and the story behind that bus trip - From St Kilda To Kings Cross – for a gig at Potts Point Hotel on August 30.
