The voice search button accessible from the Google bar found on most Android homescreens is getting a big redesign.

In the previous design introduced earlier this year, tapping the four-color microphone in the Google widget or inside the Google app would just transcribe your query for a regular Search. There’s also a Song Search shortcut.

Old vs. new

This big revamp takes after Google Lens’s Search, Translate, Live, and Create switcher by adding a toolbar at the bottom of the screen that lets you go between Search, AI Mode, Search Live, and Song Search.

Search features a new four-bar waveform, with a transcription appearing at the top as you speak.
