Environmental NGO Green Visakha organised a brainstorming session with members of the legal fraternity at Alluri Seetharama Raju Vignana Kendram in Visakhapatnam on Sunday to discuss the environmental, social and legal implications of proposed hyperscale AI data centres.Green Visakha president Raja Rama Mohan Roy said such projects should be assessed in terms of natural, environmental and social justice, considering their impact on land, water, electricity and biodiversity.Professor Byragi Reddy of Andhra University called for greater public awareness, while Human Rights Forum representative V.S. Krishna stressed compliance with constitutional and environmental laws.Senior advocates also called for transparent environmental and social impact assessments and wider public consultations, while expressing concern that Government Orders relating to the projects had not been debated in the Legislative Assembly.
